A #SCBDIntern’s Goodbye. A Reflection from Steven Pesantez

scbdintern

Hey everybody, Steven here! If you know who I am, you know that I was the #SCBDIntern of Summer 2013, and I’m here to write about my experience during the past few months.

On May 26th, one of my fraternity brothers, Eric Baukhages, messaged me asking me if I was still looking for an internship. Intrigued, I said yes and asked him for more information. After looking at the website and learning about it some more, I asked for contact information and how I would inquire more about the opportunity.

I emailed Sara aka #SCBD herself, and a few emails and a phone call later, I was given the opportunity to become the first official #SCBDIntern!

My internship required me to do a lot of organizational work, as well as work on the social media and the Google Drive account. I was to assist Sara and the team members to the best of my ability.

I started off with organizational work and was eased slowly into getting a hand of the social media aspect of the internship, scheduling posts, tweets and the like. It was intimidating at first, because I had limited experience with Hootsuite, but I got a hand of it in no time! Soon I would be scheduling about 10 tweets per day, EVERY day, without any issues!

Over the past few months I have gotten to learn how website management works, as well as gotten a behind-the-scenes look on how a blog with a team and frequently updated content works. It’s been a great summer! I even got a chance to go to the Intern Queen’s 3rd Annual Intern Queen party at the Ann Taylor store in Mid Town with Sara, Stephanie and Eric! It was a blast 🙂

Overall, the internship was an amazing opportunity and I wouldn’t say I regret accepting it at ALL. It gave me a great insight to small businesses and I got to meet and speak to a lot of great people, as well as try some yummy food! As you may have read in my #SCBDReview on Aangan!

I can’t believe it’s time to say goodbye to my position as the #SCBDIntern, but I’m certain the incoming interns will do their jobs as best as they can and will love it as much as I did! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Small Chick Big Deals!

Well, that’s all from me, I’ll definitely be keeping in touch with Sara and the rest of the #SCBDTeam, but this is Steven Pesantez, signing off!
