#SCBDReview: Casa Bella Ristorante & Lounge

scbdreview-1Casa Bella has remained a top choice among restaurants, that the Italian side of my family and I, frequent for delicious, authentic Italian food. Upon entering, you are greeted with a warm welcome from the bartender and other members of the staff. Depending on how busy the restaurant is, you have your choice of the downstairs or upstairs dining area. Choose upstairs, as it tends to be more comfortable and less bustling. In the summer months, Casa Bella opens its top floor deck seating area, beautifully decorated with hanging flower plants, overlooking Denville’s Arrowhead Lake.

Once seated, you’ll be presented with fresh bread and just about the best bruschetta you’ll ever taste. The waiter will then recite the day’s specials, from memory. Pay attention to the specials, because they’ve never ceased to please either me or another member of my family.

-2During my last visit, I ordered the appetizer special of the day: mushrooms stuffed with goat cheese, rosemary and breadcrumbs. I’m a sucker for stuffed mushrooms, but I’m always picky over the use of breadcrumbs. Thankfully, the breadcrumbs were used sparingly, the mushrooms were cooked perfectly, and the combination of goat cheese and rosemary was spot on.

-3 My go-to entrée at any Italian restaurant is typically the shrimp fra diavolo with penne pasta (as you may have noted from one of my previous reviews.) Well, that’s obviously what I ordered. While I love Casa Bella’s fra diavolo sauce with just the right amount of spiciness and the perfectly-cooked pasta; my favorite aspect of Casa Bella’s shrimp fra diavolo is the butterfly-cut and de-tailed shrimp. It makes eating the dish much easier, and I don’t like to have to work too hard to consume a meal.

-4 I wish I could comment on Casa Bella’s deserts, however, I am not a desert-eater. However, I’ve only heard good things about the restaurant’s cannoli and tirimisu, both Italian desert staples. If you live, visit, or pass through the Morris County area, stop by Casa Bella Ristorante and Lounge in Denville, NJ for authentic, delicious Italian cuisine. You’re grandmother will approve!
