0 Noodles & CoLast Monday night from 7-9pm some of the team and some of our SCBD readers got together for a tasting at Noodles & Company in East Brunswick, NJ. Trust me, that was the first of more to come since they recently opened a location in the Monmouth Mall and have plans to expand all throughout New Jersey. Check out what Arlene, Kristen, and I thought of the tasting!

Arlenes’s POV:

Noodles & Company  deserves your utmost attention. At our tasting last week, we learned of one of the newest “fresh and fast” restaurants to hit our area. This is another wonderful restaurant that started in Portland.

Lettuce Wraps

Lettuce Wraps

The food here is made each day and your meal is out most times in about 6 minutes. You order at the front, get a number and pick a seat, a comfy seat at that. They offer soups, noodles and pastas, sandwiches and salads and small bites. Oh, yes, for those of you purists or with kids or picky friends, the do offer the traditional buttered noodles. And for those willing to try something new or travel the world, there are dishes from Japan, Thailand, Italy and Indonesia just to name a few. But, I digress.

Japanese Noodles

Japanese Noodles

We were able to try a few of the dishes they offer. Our first offer was the Thai Curry soup. Yes, it had a kick but everyone finished their bowl and many went for seconds. The spice was not overwhelming at all, but tasty. Next we tried the lettuce wraps that were listed as a small bite. I think I might just have to get them as a starter each time I go to Noodles & Co. It was very apparent all the veggies used were prepared that day and not out of a bag either. Big crunch factor here. Then we started into the noodles and pasta. First was the Pesto Cavatappi. It was great, with the pesto clinging nicely to the curly pasta. This included basil pesto, garlic, mushrooms, tomato, wine cream parmesan and Italian parsley. Next was the Japanese Pan Noodles. These are carmelized udon noodles. If you are not familiar with udon noodles, they have a bit of a chewy texture and they were done perfectly with the sweet soy sauce, broccoli, carrots, shitake mushrooms, Asian sprouts, black sesame and cilantro. Next in line was the Wisconsin Mac and Cheese. How could they go wrong? The ultimate comfort food. Yes, we took an order home. It was great for lunch the next day, too.

Pesto Cavatappi

Oh, yes, they have desserts, too. These are made daily. I mean, where do you find that at a fast serve restaurant? There were chocolate chip and snickerdoodle cookies and these HUGE rice krispy treats. Did I say homemade? Nice and soft and gooey.
Great way to go, Noodles & Company . Be back soon, real soon.

Wisconsin Mac & Cheese

Wisconsin Mac & Cheese

Kristen’s POV:

Our recent visit to Noodles & Company  was amazing. I was so shocked on the different options and how good all the food was. We started with a Thai Soup, then had an appetizer of lettuce Wraps, three meals to sample (Pesto Cavatappi, Japanese Noodles, and Wisconsin Mac & Cheese), and a dessert (peanut snickerdoodle, chocolate chip cookie, and rice crispy treat. Everything was so good and it was something I would have again. With that being said, I am going to narrow it down still to my top favorite things. I absolutely loved the lettuce wraps, the lettuce was nice a fresh and crisp along with the tasteful chicken and vegetables. The awesome thing about all their food is it is delivered fresh daily, and made fresh daily. Such a great perk to a restaurant that is fast, very reasonably priced, but at a sit down (or take out) and serve you atmosphere.

Dessert

Dessert

It is hard to pick my favorite out of the three dishes; in fact I don’t think I can. They all were so different but all equally good. I usually do not like macaroni and cheese or Pesto dishes. But the Wisconsin Mac & Cheese had so much flavor mixed with all the cheese and tender pasta that I keep thinking about it and wanting more. The Pesto Cavatappi was also full of taste; it was not drenched in Pesto but had the right amount of it to create this wonderful taste that I didn’t want to end. The dish that was served in between this was the Japanese Noodles; I love Asian food, so I knew I would enjoy this. It has a slight kick to it, but not enough to ruin the flavors of the dish. We finished with our dessert, I do not like chocolate or peanuts, so I opted for the Rice Crispy. I usually don’t enjoy these, but this one was outstanding. I found out too that it is made fresh daily, and this is worth trying. If you live near or have the chance to go to a Noodles and Co, I would highly recommend. The service was phenomenal, the atmosphere is amazing, the speed to get food is great, the price is outstandingly worth it and affordable and the food is outstanding. So in my book, a new favorite place, if only it could be closer to me!

SCBD Sara’s POV:

I loved Noodles & Company the very first time I tried it a few months back. I love how affordable it is and how many options they have available. My personal favorites out of everything we tried were the Thai Curry Soup, Pesto Cavatappi, Wisconsin Mac & Cheese, and the homemade rice crispy treat. I could eat the mac & cheese and rice crispy’s everyday. Of course you know I couldn’t leave without getting leftover macaroni & cheese to take home. If you are looking for something fast, fresh, and casual Noodles & Company  is the place to go because there is something for everyone.
