Last week we traveled to a crazy land that before now had only been a figment of imagination, a place where strawberries tasted like strawberries and snozzberries tasted like snozzberries. Yes, we traveled to a place that only Mr. Willy Wonka himself could have dreamed of, complete with a sugar-dusted frozen dessert landscape with Wonkalicious treats.
In honor of the 50th Anniversary of Roald Dahl’s beloved children’s book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Wonka, maker of the world’s most innovative sweets, celebrated the launch of their latest endeavor. Located at a pop-up shop in New York City’s Meatpacking District, the Winter Wonka Wonderland allowed folks to trek their way through the frozen tundra, listen to excerpts from the infamous book, and sample the newly launched Peel-a-Pop frozen treats. The new treats are truly unique — popsicles with an edible and peelable outer layer that reveals a vanilla center on the inside. The treats, which resemble peeled bananas, come in two flavors, Vanilla Banana and Vanilla Grape.
Oooma Loompas helped guided guests through the wonderland, posing for photo ops along the way. In true Wonka fashion, the free treats were available all weekend long to all New Yorkers who stopped by. What will they think of next?!
