I arrived at the Super Run in Philadelphia, PA, in a sailor moon costume. I loved her growing up and figured this could be another opportunity– other than Halloween– where I wouldn’t be stared at for wearing a costume. I even received a cape to go along with my costume!
The event allowed people to come dressed as their favorite superhero. From Batman, Robin, Wonderwoman to Green Lantern, it was clear these people weren’t afraid to get silly. I knew that I should participate in not only the run, but dressing up as well.
I was thrilled to attend this event and promote it via social media for the world to see! The sponsers included Superfly Homes, Painting with a Twist, Superfly Kids, Friedman LLP, Ave Maria Mutual Funds. Morey’s Piers & Beachfront Waterparks and Royer Cooper. There were tons of families, couples and friends ready to run. It was a glorious site to see!
The 1K took place around 10a.m. and the 5K at 10:30 a.m. At first, I contemplated signing up for the 1K because I so don’t usually run. However, something told me to try the 5K instead. I would burn a decent amount of calories and would push myself to the limit. I had to try it, so when I did, I felt so accomplished.
I ran, walked and jogged the whole way. I didn’t give up even though I was so tired. Therefore, my advice is to always push yourself! You can do it. You should never give up because you’re worth way more than that!
According to thesuperrun.com, The Super Run is a national series of events that partners with non-profit organizations to put on superhero themed events to help raise funds and awareness for their cause. We provide logistical support, site selection, volunteer management and more. We do the heavy lifting, your organization just needs one coordinator to be the primary contact for that local event and the primary recruiter of additional volunteers. That’s it! We’ll help figure out site selection, manage the processes involved and so much more. So if you’re charity is looking to raise funds and awareness through a superhero themed event, then The Super Run is here to save your day!
I would attend The Super Run every year and encourage you to check it out next year! It’s fun for the whole family.
