#SCBDExclusive: 4th July Beers & Cocktails!!

It’s time to sit back and enjoy the fireworks, but not with a refreshing beer or cocktail. Whether you want to try a new bar or a cocktail recipe SCBD has got you covered this 4th of July. We has a list of great beers & cocktails for you to try.

What could be more all-American than craft beer? This July 4th toast our founding fathers with Founders. Based in the heartland of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Founders Brewing Co. is one of the fastest-growing craft breweries in the nation, best known for complex, in-your-face ales with huge aromatics and tons of flavor. Like our founding fathers these beers celebrate the independent spirit in all of us ‒ here are 3 to choose from:

All Day IPA: American Amarillo and Simcoe hops drive the bold taste of this popular ‘sessions IPA.’ At only 4.7% alcohol-by-volume and newly available in a 15-pack of cans, this is the beer to sip all day and on-the-go with friends and family (and still be responsible!)

Devil Dancer: Ready for the fireworks? Devil Dancer is a limited release, Triple IPA that has just been bottled. Massively complex with bold aromatics, Devil Dancer delivers burnt sugar and caramel, balanced with earthy hops (dry hopped with 10 different varieties). At 12% ABV, we recommend Devil Dancer to end the 4th with a bang!

Centennial IPA:  Centennial hops from Oregon lend their name to one of Founders’ most popular beers. If you’re on the road for the 4th, this sweet yet balanced IPA is also available in cans — handy for trips and the great outdoors. A beer that epitomizes Founders’ balance between citrus accents from dry hopping, sweet flavors from the malt and a hop character that never turns bitter.

Total time:  10 mins

Serves: 4

  • 4 cups brewed peach iced tea

  • 2 cup coarsely chopped peaches

  • ¾ cup sugar

  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about six lemons)

  • 4 cups ice

  • ½ to ¾ cup bourbon

  1. Combine the first three ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer 3 minutes. Slide the pan off the heat, and let the peach mixture cool for 20 minutes. TIP: You can substitute ¾ cup peach juice in lieu of fresh peach and sugar mixture to save time.

  2. Using a regular blender or an immersion blender, blend the mixture until it’s smooth. Pour it into an airtight container, and chill it in the fridge for at least 3 hours. Strain the peach mixture through a sieve over a bowl. Keep the liquid, and toss the solids. Stir in the lemon juice and bourbon. Place ½ cup ice in each glass, and add about ⅔ cup peach tea.
