#SCBDRecipe: Making Homemade Pasta

Have you ever wanted to make your own pasta? This past week I took another cooking class at Sur La Table and let me tell you, They are my favorite place to take cooking classes the chefs are so personable and you learn so much! During this class we learned how to make homemade pasta dough how to roll it using a crank machine as well as the kitchen aid pasta attachment. When I got home I wanted to try making it for my family. It’s crazy how simple it really is. In order to make the pasta dough you will need:

3 ½ cups of all purpose flour

4  X-Large Eggs

Blend ingredients together in a mixer or by hand. If you are doing it by hand, I suggest you do it on a baking tray. Form a pile of your flour making a small well in the middle where you will put your eggs in. Then fold over the Flour into the eggs until both ingredients are combined.  Then dough is combined in a ball Wrap with plastic wrap and let settle for approx 30 min.

When 30 min is up either using a hand pasta machine or the kitchen aid attachment. Make the type of pasta you want.  This was my first time making it and I decided to go with fettuccine since it was a thinker noodle and I thought it would hold better. When your noodles are made place them on a pasta drying rack for about 30 min. Then cook as you would store bought pasta

For the pasta sauce I made a homemade marina sauce.

Marinara Sauce Ingredients:

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small yellow onion, finely diced
2 to 3 cloves garlic, minced
1 (28-ounce) can whole peeled or crushed  tomatoes
1 bay leaf (Can use more in you want)
1/4 teaspoon salt
Fresh thyme, basil, oregano, or other herbs
Parmesan cheese for garnish purposed ( optional)
