Tocolo Cantina has only been open for a little over a month but has definitely made their mark in the Long Island Area. Debuting in a high end fashion center,Tocolo Cantina is the perfect place to grab a bite to eat before, after or in between your shopping.

Tocolo Cantina serves refined, modern Mexican food in a friendly, high-service, and casual atmosphere. The restaurant was designed to merge the modern elements of a California eatery with those of a Mexican Cantina to create a warm and inviting feel.

The design is is truly magnificent,with wood-panel and pressed-copper walls, a high ceiling, a busy bar, and colorful images to evoke San Francisco’s Mission District. The theme and color coordinated decor is not only carried out throughout the dining area but also throughout the kitchen and into the restrooms.

Chef Alexis Samayoa, who has cooked at Empellon, La Esquina, El Vez, Txikito and WD-50 in Manhattan worked with owners to create a vibrant diverse selection of traditional  Mexican cuisine with a twist.

Start off your meal with a drink or two. I recommend the house made Sangria. It was to die for filled with tons and fruit. If you are a margarita lover i recommend Grilled Lime Margarita.  For an appetizer we recommend any of their guacamole. I had the classico Guacamole with diced onions, Jalapenos Cilantro. The dish is great for sharing with the whole table, and comes with Fresh House made chips.

Whether you want to try out a few small plates or have one entree any dish you have you won’t regret. Some of our favorite dishes of the night were;

Green Chorizo Fundido; Melted Chiihuahua Cheese served with Housemade Tortillas

The taco’s were terrific we sampled three; The Berkshire pork with charred pineapple and an achiote marinade; slow-cooked lamb with chile tomato garlic  salsa roja; and the Baja-style fish tacos, with green cabbage and lime mayonnaise.

 Make sure to save room for dessert, We have the Churros which were served warm with goat-milk caramel.

To Finish off the night with your check each guest receives a Mexican hot chocolate shots which was a tasteful touch to finish off the night.
