On Friday we invited our wonderful neighbors over for a kids movie night!

We watched Frozen and Big Hero 6, all cozied up in our pjs and blankets. However, our snacks were not so childish. 

We made healthy apps and challenged ourselves to keep it simple. 

We like having a variety of affordable options to choose from. For this, we chose Trader Joe’s. We listed some of our favorite simple, healthy appetizers below.  

1. Roasted Brussel Sprouts and Garlic Aioli Dip

What you need:

  • Brussel sprouts 
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Aioli Dip:


  • Bake around 400 degrees
  • Cook for 30-40 minutes until liking

2. Kale & Artichoke Dip

What you need:

  • 1 can of artichokes, diced
  • Half bag of kale 
  • 1 package of cream cheese (softened)
  • 6 ounces of plain greek yogurt
  • Garlic powder
  • Salt
  • Quattro Formaggio (4 cheese blend)


  • Bake around 400 degrees
  • Cover and cook for 20 minutes
  • Stir and cook for 10 minutes
  • Add cheese and bake uncovered for 5 minutes

3. Cheese, Fruit, & Meat Platter

What you need:

  • Your favorite cheeses! We recommend Creamy Toscano Cheese Soaked in Syrah, goat cheese, and cheddar. 
  • Salami, prosciutto, or pepperoni
  • Your favorite fruits
  • Baguette

4. Hummus Platter

  • We recommend Tomato & Basil hummus, Tzatziki dip, and Beet Hummus. Add a side of olives ( and pita chips for dipping.
