On Saturday April 11th, Jesse McCartney celebrated his 28th birthday by holding a birthday bash at the Pool after Dark at Harrah’s Casino in Atlantic City. Small Chick Big Deals was lucky enough to attend, and even interview Jesse before the party! Jesse released his latest album, In Technicolor, last Summer and more recently has been on the hit ABC Family show Young and Hungry. This guy can do it all and he sure knows how to get the girls screaming! He’s a true artist and it was amazing to get to attend this event. The night was a blast and we are so excited to be able to share this with our readers. Editor-in-chief, Sara, and myself had never been to the Pool after Dark before. It’s definitely one of the most unique clubs in the Atlantic City area. When you walk in, it feels like you are transported to a tropical paradise with palm trees and of course, a large pool in the middle. Cabanas are available to rent, allowing guests to have their own private space for an extra fee. Every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday night, they throw epic parties with celebrity hosts and live performances. Jesse was really down to earth and it was a blast getting to interview him for Small Chick Big Deals. Below is the interview that we did with him!
SCBD: What’s your favorite song off of In Technicolor?
Jesse: My favorite song off of In Technicolor? Oh man. It’s hard, you know because I worked so long on that album. One of my favorites is Punch Drunk Recreation. That’s one of my favorite up-tempo records. In terms of ballads, I think The Other Guy is one of the better songs I’ve written over the years.
SCBD: What’s your favorite part of playing Cooper in Young and Hungry?
Jesse: Getting to work with my friends. Jonathan Sadowski who plays my boss on the show is a very good friend of mine and he’s also like literally my neighbor. He lives right down the street from me. Emily I got to work with 10 years ago and now we get to work together again. It’s just like working with a bunch of friends on a comedy show. It’s a lot of fun.
SCBD: Do you have any plans for acting coming up?
Jesse: Well right now I just finished Young and Hungry and just starting Alvin and the Chipmunks 4. We’re doing the 4th installment so I’ve been in the studio recording for the new film.
SCBD: What’s one quote that has inspired you throughout your career?
Jesse: One quote that inspired me..Abraham Lincoln. You ready for this one? It’s pretty generic and he gets credit for it. “Whatever you are, be a good one.”
After our interview with Jesse, we got to go inside and watch him perform a few songs! He sounded amazing and brought lots of energy. He performed Leavin(our personal favorite!), Superbad, and his hit song that started it all, Beautiful Soul! The crowd was singing along the whole time and really having a great time. A cake was brought out for Jesse as well for his birthday. The Pool after Dark sure can throw great birthday bashes! Small Chick Big Deals had a blast at this event and definitely would recommend the Pool after Dark the next time you’re looking for a great time with your friends! Especially with Summer coming, there are a lot of great events already scheduled so make sure you check out the Pool’s website and social media pages for the latest news! Go Coastal Events, who work with the Pool after Dark, also have a listing of upcoming events on their website, as well as the option to get on their guestlist for free or reduced admission. They also offer party packages, bottle service, and more. Next time you’re planning your trip to Atlantic City and want some help planning your night, make sure you contact Go Coastal for great service! We definitely enjoyed our night and it was amazing celebrating Jesse McCartney’s birthday with Jesse himself!
