#SCBDReview: Life is a Fiesta @ Blue Moon Mexican Cafe

If you are a foodie like us and love Tex Mex then Blue Moon Mexican Cafe is the place to go! Located in the center of downtown Englewood with other nearby locations Blue Moon Mexican Restaurant is the place to go. Coming from shopping downtown or just need a good local go to restaurant you will not be disappoint. Tasty tacos, enormous burritos and plentiful portions our meal at Blue Moon left us completely satisfied.

We started out with Chips and Salsa which is given to every table. Tip: Don’t fill up because their portions are large! I had a side of their fresh made guacamole which was to die for! For appetizers we split the zucchini nachos and their moon wings.  I was pleasantly surprised with their Zucchini Nachos as I am actually not a big fan of zucchini. It was Grilled Zucchini topped with black beans, pico de gallo, chopped avocado, cilantro and a generous portion of Muenster cheese on top. If you are looking for a healthier alternative to nachos I would highly highly recommend trying this out.

For one of our entrees we chose the Aztec Steak which is a grilled skirt steak over a bed of sauteed cactus and onions, smothered in melted cheese and served with Mexican rice and refried beans. Hesitant to try this because of it having cactus but was so glad that I did. The steak was cooked perfectly tender and juicy while the sauteed cactus and onions gave the dish great flavor. We also got the taco platter which came with a pork, chicken and steak taco and rice and beans. It was so filling and delicious.

To top it all off we finished our meal with house made churros in a bag which were to die for. They serve their Churros in a Bag served with chocolate sauce, caramel and whipped cream. This dessert is great to share or even take it home in the bag. We also tried the flan which tasted delicious too and was the perfect dessert portion. After leaving completely full and satisfied I have already planned by next trip to Blue Moon Mexican Café.

Note: Blue Moon Mexican Café offered great Vegetarian as well as Gluten “safe” foods.

Next time your in the area be sure to check out Blue Moon Mexican Café. They have 4 locations in Bergen County and 1 in Bronxville, NY. Its so worth a visit!
