#SCBDFavorite: Five Fierce Reasons why you need to tune into @TheCWSupergirl

One of the newest shows on the CW line up is Supergirl. You either love it or hate it. And I love it, especially since I’m a feminist and love seeing a female as a lead on a show. The show was originally on CBS and was picked up by CW this summer. So like every other CW show I love now except Jane the Virgin I binged it before season 2 started and it’s definitely not a season to miss, here’s why:

1. The plot:

At 12 years old, Kara Zor-El escapes doom on planet Krypton to find protection on Earth with the Danver family, where she grows up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex, and learns to hide the extraordinary powers she shares with her cousin, Superman. Now an adult living in National City and working for media mogul Cat Grant, Kara finds her days of keeping her abilities a secret are over when super-secret agency head Hank Henshaw enlists her to help protect the city’s citizens from threats. Finally coming into her own, Kara must juggle her new responsibilities with her very human relationships.

2. Melissa Benoist slays Supergirl:

Melissa who plays her always slays it. She really embodies Kara and make her role worth watching and is super strong. I hope young woman start tuning in, we need more role models like this in our society.

3. Its controversial:

Alex, who is Kara’s sister is coming out as a lesbian. Kara is doing her but still has a few potential guys looking at her. Of course there’s drama but someone is always saving the day.

4. Aliens vs. humans?

The villains are not the usual on Supergirl and definitely have some intense powers. Like the other CW shows, Supergirl’s squad is all about showing them who they are up against. They also are never who and what you expect.

5.  The big crossover event coming up:

As I mentioned in my last post on Arrow. Since Flash came on board, crossovers happen at least once every season. This year we have an amazing crossover superheroes vs. aliens at the end of the month (happy birthday to me) and this time it also features another CW favorite, Legends of Tomorrow. I’ll have a post on why you should tune into that soon, too. The characters on that are on point and stem from Arrow and Flash.

So if you have some time, grab some popcorn and start season 1 and then catch up on season 2! Let me know what you think if you do!!!
